He had been found by French nationals while they were out with a metal detector hunting war artifacts. The Marine was buried with full military honours in Arlington cemetary. Crosby Garrett Helmet
This is an incredilbe find with a metal detector in Cumbria and its for sale at Christies on the 7th October its dated by Christies as 1st to 3rd Century. The famous auctioners believe it could bring £200.000 to £300,000 which considering its age is quite low. A really interesting article which you can read here. Also U.K metal detecting enthusiasts have got themselves in a right tiswas about it you can read that http://www.detectorist.co.uk/phpBB2/printview.php?t=43103&start=0%20.">here.
